Cherry Pickers or MEWP’s (Mobile Elevated Working Platforms) are a good access option for buiders clean jobs. If a window has plaster, cement or stickers on for example then a water fed pole obviously won’t do the job. To cut down costs it’s a good idea to try and clean the windows whilst the scaffolding is still erected where possible. If that isn’t viable then before choosing a cherry picker get a site survey done. Most access companies offer this service free of charge and will tell you which machine is the most suitable for the job at hand. MEWP’s are very heavy machines. Take particular note of the ground conditions. Find out such things as, is there a basement below? Is it necessary to put wooden spreader boards down to spread the weight of the machine so as not to damage block paving etc. Note: These machines require IPAF training to operate.
