Recently we managed to interview Steve Aldous the branch manager for A-Plan Insurance at Carteton. Steve gave us some useful insights on taking out insurance for window cleaners and the types of insurance policies available.
WCR: So Steve could you first tell us a little bit about the company A-Plan insurance?
Steve: A Plan were established in 1963, from day one to now are values have remained the same: Personable Approach, Make Insurance Easy, Find client the right policy at the most affordable price. Year on year we have grown and currently have over 90 plus branches with big plans to reach 100 over next couple of years. Each branch can accommodate Car,Van and Home Insurance and certain branches offer niche products on top.
Here in Carterton we are the hub for the cleaning industry, with our main markets being aimed at Window Cleaners.
WCR: What makes A-Plan insurance of particular interest to window cleaners?
Steve: Here in Carterton we have a panel of specialist insurers we can use for bespoke cover, the insurers will happily cover the van even though modified with a water tank in the vehicle. In addition to this A Plan have over the years built up some excellent products we can offer, ranging from cover for the actual system and tools in the vehicle to arranging a hire vehicle fully fitted with a water fed pole system.
WCR: Other than Van insurance what other insurance services do you offer?
Steve: In addition to just covering the van we also specialise in commercial policies, such as public liability, employers liability etc. We can obviously offer great prices for your Car and Home Insurance too.
WCR: What are the main benefits of dealing with a specialized insurance provider like yourselves as opposed to a typical high street insurance company?
Steve: Here at A Plan we pride ourselves on giving personal service, so from a 3 ring phone policy to speaking with one of our qualified advisors we really will deliver top draw service, if you have a claim we have in house claims manager to take away the strain and do the running around for you and when your policy is due for renewal we search the market for other insurers best rates again so you don’t have to.
WCR: Could you relate some experiences of window cleaners that have benefited from being insured with yourselves?
Steve: Only last week we had a Window Cleaner have an accident, completely at fault of his own, when he took out his insurance he added our specialist legal cover to his policy for just £32 extra, his vehicle was badly damaged and not drivable but with this product he was able to receive a vehicle the very same day fully kitted out, meaning the policyholder could carry on with his work with very little disruption at all.
